The exhibition "Dive into the Past... Vision for the Future", held at the City Hall of Ierapetra, southeastern Crete, throughout November and December 2024, concluded successfully, attracting considerable public interest. The official opening on November 22 featured insightful presentations by Dr. Nikos Papadopoulos, Research Director of the Geosat Research Group, and Dr. Theotokis Theodoulou from the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities, who highlighted key technological and archaeological findings from the research project. Visitors can interact with 3D reconstructions, satellite imagery, bathymetric surveys, and visualizations of shipwrecks. By doing so, the app highlights the meticulous work behind documenting submerged archaeological structures and coastal heritage while fostering a deeper connection between researchers and the public.

Curated by Dr. Nafsika C. Andriopoulou, the exhibition showcased a collection of printed photographs documenting significant discoveries. This display was further enriched by an augmented reality application developed by Nikos S. Papadopoulos, which added layers of context and interpretation. The interactive component offered visitors a more immersive experience, enhancing their understanding of the research and its broader implications for underwater cultural heritage and its potential to reshape how we engage with the past.

Organised within the framework of the ClepsYdra project [https://clepsydra.ims.forth.gr/], the exhibition was made possible through the collaboration and support of the Municipality of Ierapetra, the Prefecture of Crete, the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities, and the Cultural Union Ierapytna. The exhibition highlighted the vital role of interdisciplinary research in the study and preservation of underwater cultural heritage. As it concludes, the images and stories endure, fostering a lasting dialogue between past discoveries and future exploration.
